Our volunteers carry out innovative ideas to spread the word about waste prevention and recycling. Here we post artciles by our volunteers or write examples of what has been happening in our communities. As the scheme develops we will post more and more examples of what our trained volunteers have acheived.

Throughout June - September 2008 Waste Prevention Advisors have been busy promoting recycling, composting and other waste prevention initiatives at farmers markets throughout the county.

Waste Prevention Advisors (Volunteers) Ken and Grainne decided that they wanted to engage with stroke patients with regard to waste prevention and recycling. They have now completed several talks to stroke patients and the audiences have been very enthusiastic. Grainne leads on the talks/workshops and has designed it in a way that it can be interactive with the patients (clients) and carers. Grainne (who herself suffered a stroke) said "talking about recycling is interesting to the groups and it also helps with their recovery". One of the effects of a stroke is that it affects the ability to speak.
